The College Activities Board’s (CAB) Recreation and Travel Events are some of RIT’s most hidden gems. These are super fun, off-campus trips, with transportation (and usually some food!) provided. Here are a few of the events CAB has done over the past year:
Cooking Class at the New York Wine and Culinary Center. Students were able to channel their inner chef and either bake a chocolate creme pie or make a delicious soup at the New York Wine and Culinary Center in a state-of-the-art kitchen led by world-class chefs.
Some of the best CAB trips are to some of the “natural wonders" in the area, including Niagara Falls. The cost of our tickets included tickets to the aquarium, snacks for the bus ride there (that’s included too!) and the ability to go explore Canada if you have your passport.
One of CAB’s most popular summer events is Whitewater River Rafting! Pricing includes transportation to the river, tickets for rafting itself, and all other fees associated with the event. Talk about an awesome adventure for during the summer.
Students love an excuse to be kids again. With three floors of interactive exhibits at the Rochester Museum and Science Center, there is plenty to explore at this museum downtown!
Trips to Dark Matter Scream Works Haunted Houses. As Rochester's only indoor scream park haunted house, CAB provides transportation and discounted tickets for this event. Attractions include the Crimson Grove Asylum, Dark Matter 3D and Rochester's ONLY Live Zombie Shooting Gallery!
Snow Tubing at Glacier Ridge was a super fun event where CAB bussed a group of students to go tubing for the day! Super fun way to enjoy the snow in Rochester :)
Park Ave Fest is one of Rochester's oldest and most unique neighborhoods that celebrates its 37th Annual Festival of arts, crafts, and music. CAB runs free shuttles between the festival and campus throughout the day.
Trips to Skyzone, Henrietta’s trampoline park! Students can go jump on trampolines and swing into foam pits.
There are also trips to a very popular location near campus—Laser Quest! CAB even provides pizza and soda after your first round of laser tag.
The fall is a time you definitely want to go explore the area. The trip to Long Acre Farms is your place to have some fall fun! The trip includes your ticket to the corn maze, wagon rides, hayrides, and entrance to the barn. Long Acre Farms also sells pumpkins, apples, and food for sale.
