What's Around RIT, Anyway?

So I grew up in a pretty small town, and one thing I never really found until I came here to RIT was so many different places around to go do things! Within a very close distance to our campus there are a whole ton of restaurants, malls, movie theaters, and so much more!

One place I loved to go back home was Dave & Busters arcade and restaurant, and it was one of the few things I noticed that wasn't in the Rochester area. Lo and behold, I came back this semester and as I’m driving around, I notice a new Dave & Busters within 5 minutes from campus! Needless to say, that is the inspiration for this article. The grand opening just happened a couple of weeks ago and inside was amazing! I was so ecstatic because, well, first I love arcades, and second I was able to take all my friends who’ve never been to a Dave & Busters before. With all the places to go and have fun around here, it’s just awesome to see yet another totally great means for entertainment put up so close by!

When coming to RIT, I definitely recommend taking time to explore all the awesome malls and restaurants around the area. It can keep you entertained for hours because there are just so many close by. Although I do have my own car, the benefit of not having to travel as far to go and do the things I want is a major plus. All the fun things around campus just add to all the fun stuff already available on campus for even more of an experience.

My friends and I always have such a hard time figuring out where to go to eat. We have pretty much all the chains I grew up with in Massachusetts, and so many more local ones to experience! I love this, though, because it gives us so many new places to try. One place my friend just introduced to me last semester was a restaurant called Pi Craft - which makes the pizza from scratch right at the counter in front of you. Delicious!

I also have a lot of friends who love trampolines and we have a Sky Zone and an Altitude all within a short drive from campus!

When it comes to movies, I’m totally a fanatic and we have lots of awesome theaters in the area. One of my favorites is the Movies 10 theatre just a few minutes off campus. They play fairly recent films there and the adult tickets are only $2.65! By playing movies slightly after their release date, they can afford to lower the ticket prices.

Everything I just mentioned isn’t even in downtown Rochester, but right in our suburb of Henrietta which is a very quick drive from campus. Of course, I came to Rochester for my education and for all the amazing opportunities RIT provides, but I also love the energy and amount of fun things to explore and experience in such a close area!
