Hi, my name is Simran Makker, and I'm an admissions student Ambassador. I am currently a second year Marketing and Advertising Photography major. I was born in India and lived there for 8 years. I moved to Connecticut in 2004 and have since moved around many places. However, my hometown is Farmington, CT.
I originally started at RIT as an economics major, but quickly realized that it’s not something I wanted to pursue in the future. I then switched to Finance starting with business classes. However, I looked at the amount of math that is required, and decided to switch majors again! Since my junior year of high school, I've had an interest in photography, but never really learned the technicalities or the details behind it. Those really made me want to pursue photography. I also realized through the basic business classes that I thrived best in the field of marketing. That was when I decided I wanted to do a dual degree in Marketing and Advertising Photography.
I also am a part of Zeta Tau Alpha, one of the sororities on campus. I pledged my freshman year, and originally never thought I would join Greek life! I decided only a couple days beforehand to go through recruitment, and it was one of the best decisions I've made.
