Hello everyone! My name is Andrea Shaver and I am a second-year graphic design major. Home is north of Dallas, Texas in a suburb called Frisco. I am super excited to be working as an ambassador for the Office of Admissions—I was once a prospective RIT student too, and since I didn’t really get to come back to visit campus before I applied, I relied heavily on ambassador blogs and videos. I am a graphic design major, but I am also triple minoring in Entrepreneurship (I’m in the Entrepreneur Scholars Program), Advertising & Public Relations, and Web Design & Development. I chose to come to RIT because of the entrepreneurial feel of the school, the student work that was being produced in my program, and my first experience at Imagine RIT. I am a very busy lady, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. On campus, I am involved in AIGA (the graphic design professionals club). I play oboe in concert band and am in percussion section for pep band. I am the treasurer for my fraternity (Gamma Epsilon Tau, a graphic arts honors fraternity), and I am also the Senator for the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences in Student Government! Besides my job as an ambassador, I work on campus in the Alumni Relations and SportsZone offices as a graphic designer. Outside of school I do freelance graphic design work, and love running my business, Flaming Squirrel Design. Some of my favorite things are mint chip ice cream, lemonade, kerning, posting a picture every day (I've had a 365 project for 3 years in a row now!) and skiing on powder days. My favorite thing to do on campus is go to hockey games; I am super excited for the opening of the new Polisseni Center this year! You’ll see me at every game.
