Why I Chose RIT

Hi everyone, Stevie here. Today I wanted to talk about something that everyone here gets asked from time to time. Why did I choose RIT?

I’ll start off basic. When I visited the campus for the first time, I really felt at home. I feel like every prospective college student should feel this way on a campus before deciding to go there. And for me, it just clicked at RIT. The culture, the feel, and especially the film and animation building made me excited and wanting to apply. I visited a few months later during the academic year, and it only confirmed the fact that RIT was going to be my top college.

Another leading factor in my decision to go to RIT was the co-op program here. RIT has the fifth largest co-op program in the US, and for good reason. The alumni connections RIT maintains, especially in the film and animation program, compelled me to come here. RIT helps their students learn how to become a stellar employee, and makes sure that everyone succeeds in their co-ops.

Finally, the green screen. When I laid my eyes on the two-story green screen housed in RIT’s very own Gannet hall, I was sold. Not only the green screen I guess, but the idea of getting to use top of the line equipment that I wouldn’t be able to get my hands on on my own made me really excited. All of RIT’s programs keep their equipment updated so that their students know what they’re doing when they head into the workforce, and to me that experience is priceless.

Good luck on the college search everybody! I hope to see you here next year.
