Hello again! This is a follow up to one of my blogs where I wrote an RIT Bucket List of on-campus activities. This week, I am writing a bucket list of off-campus activities. Without further ado, here’s the Rochester bucket list:

  •         Eat at Jay’s Diner (preferably after 12:00 am)
  •          Walk down Park Avenue and try at least 3 different restaurants there.
  •          Park Ave Fest! (in Early August)
  •          Go to Mt. Hope Cemetery and find Susan B. Anthony’s grave.
  •          Go to the Corning Museum of Glass
  •          Go to the Strong Museum of Play
  •          Take a walk around Highland Park
  •          Hiking at Letchworth State Park
  •       Visit the other college campuses in the area (U of R, Nazareth, Fisher, Brockport, Geneseo, MCC)
  •          Explore the abandoned subway station in downtown Rochester.
  •          Spend some time at Lake Ontario
  •          Take a trip to Niagara Falls
  •       On your way back from Niagara Falls, go to Buffalo and eat at Anchor Bar, the birthplace of Buffalo Wings
  •          Go to the Seneca Park Zoo (During Zoo Brew if you are 21 or older)
  •          Go to the Public Market
  •          Go to Food Truck Rodeo
  •          Go to trivia night, karaoke, salsa night, and open mic night at Lovin’ Cup
  •          Visit the Rochester Science Museum
  •          Find your favorite Wegmans (and join the Wegmans Shopper’s Club, for real!)
  •          Go to a concert/festival in the area.
  •          Visit Java’s in downtown Rochester
  •          Eat at Dinosaur BBQ
  •          Lilac Festival in May
  •          Fringe Fest activities (bonus if they are RIT-related)
  •          Stay in Rochester at least one Summer.
  •          Take the TE3 Bus Downtown on Saturday night
  •          Get frozen custard from Abbot’s
  •          Go to Pittsford Dairy and walk/bike along the Erie Canal
  •          Go to the George Eastman House
  •          Visit the Kodak Tower.
  •          Go to Darien Lake and Seabreeze amusement parks.
  •          Visit the Genesee Brewery
  •          Go Bowling on Sunday or Monday nights for college night ($1 lanes)
  •          Bridge jumping off George Bridge (bonus if you use the rope swing)

Above all things, have fun! College can be the best 4 or 5 years of your life, so make the best of it! The list above is a suggestion on how to get the full Rochester experience, but there’s so much more to do. Sure, it gets cold and snowy, but there’s still plenty of activities, and Rochester can actually be a very enjoyable city if you take advantage of all it has to offer.
