This week I wanted to write a post about the career fair. If you’re thinking about going to RIT and your major requires completing co-ops/internships this is a fairly important event to attend. For me, I am looking for a fulltime job now that I am in the home stretch of my senior year.
A career fair is an event that, in our cases, is held on campus where students and alumni have the opportunity to speak with employers and network. The career fair is offered twice a year by the Office of Cooperative Education and Career Services. This office is a free resource to students and alumni who are looking for guidance with their career searches. Their full lists of services are available on their website (http://www.rit.edu/emcs/oce/about-our-office). What is really special about RIT’s career fairs is that it is always growing. The school normally has over 250 companies in attendance that are looking for co-ops/internships and fulltime hires.
Preparing for the career fair can be quite time consuming. The most important item is your resume. When you first start looking for co-ops/internship you will need a resume. It is a one page piece of paper that describes your education, past jobs, qualifications and interests. You will also need to dress in business attire and come prepared to talk about yourself and experiences.
The career fair is a great way to meet potential employers and hopefully find a job. Just another perk about RIT.
