Time to wrap it up!

As the semester draws to a close, I find myself at yet another crossroads in terms of what my major should be. I started out this semester determined to make my major integrated marketing communications with a focus on advertising. I chose this path so I could incorporate my interest in marketing, advertising and design. I picked out classes that I would take over the next three years in advance and even met with each college chair. But, as luck would have it, I realized this semester that some of the classes I picked out were not what I expected. Although it is a bit disappointing that I am not as enamored with marketing, I'm glad that I have discovered this now rather than twenty years down the road.

Now, what to do next?

Seriously! I’ll take any ideas anyone may have! In all seriousness, though, I do have an inkling of what I would like to do with my major. I am actually interested in the science field - which seems like a complete jump of interests from people who know me. I mean, I guess it is when you have devoted nearly five years of your life to the art field only... but sometimes what you think is your future path is only a tangent. I have always been interested in the human body and have always dreamed of being able to do a dissection in a cadaver lab (which is a lab full of human bodies that have been donated to science). The more I consider the decision to switch into medicine, the more excited I am about school. Despite my determination, it is worrying to think of switching majors again. I would prefer not to change my major just because I feel like I end up moving around a lot in academics.

For anyone out there who terrified of going to college because they are not sure what they want to do yet, the best piece of advice I can give you is that, as scary as it is, the amount of friends you will make and things you will learn will make the adventure all the worthwhile. You will go into a major you may have never heard of and do projects you never thought you would do. So as the semester wraps up, finals are handed out and grades collected, going forward I am still figuring out what I want to be when I grow up but for the moment I am more concerned with finals. I only have three so I am not that worried, just have to make sure I fit in studying around my hectic schedule. Until later. Toodles!
