Part of coming to college is realizing that you're a free thinking adult with a lot of independence. That freedom is awesome, don't get me wrong, but being completely self-reliant can present some interesting challenges. Here are some of the issues I've had to face because of the choices I made.
Class starts in an hour. That's not enough time to do the laundry I should've done last night. Out of socks. I re-wear cleanest looking pair of socks. Late to two meetings in a row in Student Government. Vice President is mad. I use my food debit to buy a 5 pound Hershey bar. I write "sorry I'm choco-late" on the box. Vice President isn't mad anymore. Spent a third of my paycheck on pizza (it's my greatest vice). Professor alerts class to extra piece of digital software required for course. It costs $300. I don't have the money, and have to drop the course.
As you can see, a lot of the issues you face as an adult are easily solved with a little quick thinking, but there will be unexpected problems from time to time. A little foresight and a little responsibility is all it takes to be sure you're ready for those problems when they arise.
