So you’ve visited campus, you’ve taken the tour, now what? The Sentinel statue was cool, and you loved walking down that quarter mile, but that’s basic stuff. That’s your standard issue, bourgeoisie tour. Now it’s time for the unrated version. This is your tour after dark. Not really. But there’s some pretty cool places on campus that don’t get covered on the campus tour that I’d like to point out now.
The roof of Gannett Hall is the primo spot for any budding RIT Tiger to sit and relax. It can be reached via sliding door on the third floor lounge, and is conveniently located by an array of vending machines. Want to chill between classes while it’s still warm? Go to the roof. Want to get deep and talk about the meaning of life with your friends? Go to the roof.
Another place you don’t get to see on the tour is the Red Barn. Much like barns you find on farms, the Red Barn is made of wood. But unlike barns you find on actual farms, our barn doesn’t have cows. We have rock walls; a lot of them. This is where you can take wellness classes like climbing and outdoor adventuring, and also go to free climbs for fun. Looking to show up at Thanksgiving with some sick bicep gains and finger callouses? This is the place for you.
Finally, the most underrated locale on campus: Ritchie’s. This is a small game room in the tunnels with pool (billiards if you’re fancy), ping-pong (table tennis if you’re fancy), and foosball (little-plastic-handheld-soccer if you’re fancy). Every time I go to Ritchie’s the place is completely empty, so definitely check it out if you get the chance.
