Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog. I'll start off with telling you a little bit about myself and how I ended up at RIT.
My name is Nirav and I'm a 3rd year New Media Marketing student from Ahmedabad, India. The interesting thing is that before 2010 I lived all my life in Ahmedabad and in the last 4 years I visited 6 countries and moved twice overseas; first Dubai to begin my undergraduate studies at RIT Dubai campus and then Rochester to continue to my undergraduate studies at the main campus.
Why I chose RIT?
Campus. The most comfortable thing about the campus is the technology that is present on each corner. The campus is a very productive place for technology to emerge, mostly because of faculty and students. People talk technology here and talk is enough to motivate one.
One more thing that got me to choose RIT was the academic diversity. RIT has a wide variety of programs and practically anyone can take a class in any of the academic colleges. It gives me the opportunity to pursue my other interests in programming and music.
After transfering from RIT Dubai, I changed my major to New Media Marketing (NMM) as a result of exposure I got in my first semester in Rochester. I realized how important technology is and picked a major that enable me to pursue my interest in technology and at that same time gives me enough information to work on my entreprenuerial and people skills. NMM is all about reaching out to people using the newest media and technology. I also have a great passion for Management Information Systems and I wish to pursue a minor or a concerntration in it in the near future.
In spring 2015 I started working at the Undergraduate Admissions office as an International Student Ambassador. It is just as cool as it sounds. I communicate and interact with prospective students from India and U.S., maintain social networks, and blog. In fact this is my first blog. Hurray!
Following this semester, I wish to co-op in New York City. NYC always interests me and makes me curious to know more and more about it. The city has the environment that drives me to learn and innovate.
That is all when the semester gets over. For now, I wish to enjoy every bit of student-ing.
P.S. Stay tuned for more blogs coming soon!
