Waterfalls and Apples Galore

This year has been flying by so quickly! It’s crazy to think that the semester is already halfway done. This past weekend I went to Ithaca with other honors students in my college. We visited and hiked to three different waterfalls, and we also went to an apple festival in downtown Ithaca. Let's just say the day was filled with pretty scenery and lots of yummy apple cider. The trip was great because when you have a lot to do, sometimes you get more focused on the work and can forget about taking care of yourself. The trip was a great way to kind of clear my mind and focus back in on my creativity.  As in art student, you would think I would have endless creativity all the time, but as everyone knows, that’s definitely not the case. Sometimes, especially when you’re tired and busy with other things, it can be extremely exhausting to have to think of new ideas for projects. That’s why this last weekend was just what I needed.  Our first hike was to Taughannock Falls. It was a short walk back to the actual waterfall, but it was a super gorgeous decently tall waterfall. There was also a creek that we were able to walk along. The second waterfall was Ithaca falls in downtown Ithaca. It's crazy how there can be such a large waterfall in the middle of a city! The third was a reallllly long waterfall. We probably walked up at least 90-100 steep stairs (ouch).  I was able to just take pictures and enjoy the scenery! Being able to focus on something other than all of my work was great. Plus, I got some pretty awesome shots (that’s a major bonus). As one of my professors always tells us, there are a million and one things we can do to try to boost our creativity—and taking a walk (and consequently not really focusing on anything else) was one of them. I am realllllllly glad that it worked for me! Bring it on Week 8! I post a lot of pictures of these kinds of trips on Instagram.
